You're at the fabric counter and the cutting girl is staring at you. The heat is on.
"How much do you need?" she asks. At $8 a yard, you really don't want to get an extra inch. Right? You then either overpurchase and end up with a yard and a half of unneeded fabric OR underpurchase and end up having to make an extra trip which takes more time and gas out of your pocket. Instead put this IN your pocket.
Take a look at The Original "How Much Fabric?" Reference Cards - Set 1: Women's Clothes. The set (basically) has 5 cards, one each for women's pants, skirts, dresses, blouses and jackets.
1. Each card has a table that lists the minimum, average and maximum fabric yardage requirements broken down by fabric width and garment size.
2. Each card also has a series of sketches to illustrate the types of garments that could be made with the minimum, average and maximum amounts of fabric.
3. Finally, each card has a "safety margin" table that gives you an idea of how much you might want to round up from the average, "just to be safe".
If you'd like to win one of these card packets just link to this post. If you have any questions see the "questions and answers" link to the right. If you use blogger just use the "create a link" link at the bottom of this post. If you don't use blogger, that's fine too. Just create a link on your page as you normally would and I will see it using Technorati.
