So I had an idea yesterday.
I get a lot of email from people who say that they wish they could sew clothing or they'd like to try. I tell them it's not as hard as you might think but I suspect my claims are unconvincing.
I'd like to help.
Would any of you be interested in making a dress with me?
I would post a detailed diagram of a couple steps of the dress every day. You would have the same pattern and 'make' the dress with me as the week went on. By Friday, we should have a finished dress. If a dress was too hard we could start with something simpler. We could use one of the 'free' patterns off of the BurdaStyle website. If a dress sounds like something you might be interested in, I thought this one below was a good start!

I love to sew, but hesitate to make something for myself due to bad past experiences. I would love to give this a try tho. That pattern is too darn cute!

I love this pattern. I wanted to let you know you inspired me to try the refashioning idea. I have three daughters and it is hard to find modest formal wear. I have been making prom, formal and graduation dresses for them with purchased fabric, but I went to Goodwill and found tons of large size dressed!! Some were brand new. So I bought a couple and just am putting the final touches on a prom dress that is under $30 dollars(dress $7, sequins for bodice $20)Thank you for the idea. I also found a bed skirt for $3. that made the cutest skirt for my 9year old.
I'm taking sewing lessons right now!!! This sounds like a super fun idea. Just curious- what type of fabric is best for this? Just trying to get an idea for the cost of this project...
