I brought it home and took my seam ripper to it. To change the look of this dress I simply removed the collar and sleeves. Here's the neat part. Most collars have a middle piece that connects to the dress. I ripped the stitches out that connect the collar to this middle piece. I then stitched the opening back up and what I had left was a neat little mission collar.
Finally, I cut the sleeves off and hemmed the raw edges to the inside. Now, I have a neat little summer/fall frock. I might even wear it to back to school night tonight.

I love it.
I have similar one. But I'm going to do nothing with it- I bought it hoping to lose 3-4-5 pounds:)So I did.But it doesn't fit me again:)May be it's time to bring the dress to Salvation.
I like your updated version.Looks great!
what a great idea. it looks fabulous!
Shut the front door! I can't believe you just took a few things off. Looks fantastic!
Wow! Very nice. You seem to make beautiful pieces out of the blah-est finds. :)
This looks amazing and only $2! Also fantastic with those heels.
One word for this makover- Perfect
Amazing! Can you please come shopping with me. I wouldn't have even seen the potential in this dress and it looks GREAT! Thanks for sharing!

I love making mandarin collars out of regular collared shirts! very cute.
oh i love it! and the collar is so cool, i didn't know you could do that. i'm going to try it sometime!
Nice! I am being inspired to upcycle my old clothes. Thinking about some pieces I have in the bag waiting to go to Goodwill....
This is fantastic! I love the collar.
This is a really wonderful transformation. It is one of my favorites. Thanks so much for the collar tip!
Way cute! I never would have thought to alter it like that. I'm totally on the lookout for a dress like that now!

Another amazing transformation!
I love it. You look really great in it. Thanks for sharing.
nice! i have one in my closet that needs a little something and losing the sleeves might just be the thing.
That is tooo cute. I love the ingeniousness (?) of it. TOO crafty for words. I love the lack of sleeves; could just see it paired with a nice cardigan sweater.
this is absolutely brilliant! I'm really tall and as such I have long arms and often have issues with dresses like this, sleeves ride up hitting me awkardly between wrist and 3/4 length... next tome I see a dress like this that I like I'm going to have to do this!!
Hi ive got a similar one in black but really want to add some colour or change it some way as the black is too intense any suggestions please.
@Nadia MajidA large fabric poppy boutonniere for a splash of color?
