With Eloise being so little around Halloween I realized that this year was possibly the only time in my life when I would be able to sew a cute sock monkey costume. I originally bought what I thought was sock monkey material, at least it looked like sock monkey material, online. But when I came in the mail it was cotton weave fabric with a sock monkey design. That's stupid. So I really didn't know what I was going to do.
Eloise is so little that I thought maybe I could sew a couple Fox River Mills socks together. But I'd have to buy it online AND time was running out. So yesterday I went to the thrift store and searched for a sweater that looked like the Fox River Mills material. It actually wasn't that hard. See below. Maybe I lucked out but I only had to stop at one place, The Salvation Army. All I looked for was mixed brown and off white woven knit sweater. I also found a cream colored sweater for the feet and hands.
I then used an infant pajama pattern, tweaked it a bit and came up with this. Sock monkey Eloise! She actually doesn't like it that much though. She likes to suck on her fingers and the costume keeps her from doing that. We're taking the girls out tonight to go Trick or Treating. I hope she holds up.
Stay tuned tomorrow for ANOTHER Halloween costume!

This is adorable! It is an amazing costume.
So cute! If it's bothering her, can you just make a slit for her fingers, like a fingerless glove? Then she won't get cranky and everybody can enjoy their trick-or-treating. :)

My word, what a cute baby!
Cutest...costume...EVER!
One year my youngest stepdaughter was "Babyzilla" (wish I had a pic handy, hilarious). Her mom made this awesome green costume and she had her hands covered too (with little white felt claws attached, no less). Her mom modified the "glove" parts to be folded over so she could get her hands out if she needed to. Funny thing was she didn't even try. If it's chilly out, Eloise may want to keep her hands cozy too. :)
Awesome. Love it!
Totally PLOTZING from the cuteness! Great costume!
You're just using E. as a ploy to get more candy, aren't you. Go mamma!
This is the CUTEST baby costume ever! =) And a very cute baby, too.
what a darling costume! My 14 year old daughter announced to me yesterday that she wanted to be a sock monkey next year for Halloween. That gives me a year to look for fabric! You inspired me!
So cute! I have never seen a little one in a costume like that :) ADORABLE
My daughter has talked about her son being a sock monkey for a couple of years, but instead he's been a turtle, the little boy from Where the Wild Things Are, and this year, a wild boar. Maybe next year can be a sock monkey, but he'll be 3 so I'll have to find a BIG sweater.
This is adorable and I would love to squeeze those sweet cheeks after I kiss all the sweetness out!
She really is so adorable!!! Anyway, just wondering how come you're going trick or treating tonight; here people only go on Halloween night...does your town celebrate in advance?
This is beyond darling! You're so talented and creative! Way to make it work! :)
