The Engagement Frock Grosgrain Giveaway

Do you remember what you wore when you got engaged? If you could have chosen the dress what would it be?

Mine would have been this. It has a romantic feel to it. Green viney flowers creep along the side front and along the back to end around the waist on the other side. Tiny pink flowers scatter throughout the green vines and pops of white fabric flowers adorn the neckline and hip.

And what a more appropriate setting than Longwood Gardens? As we walked through the conservatory Brian and I lamented our lack of million dollar greenhouse. "What if this were our home?" we said. What if indeed!

Longwood Gardens seems like one of those places that a family of billionaires once owned and eventually endowed. Someone like the Du Ponts or Rockefellers.

I wanted to go for a romantic hairstyle to go with this frock. It took forever to master the braid in my hair that begins in the back and entwines into my bangs in the front. But I think it looked awesome in the end.

 Wow. I have a lot of white hair! Must be getting up there;)

 One last note. This is in fact what I wore when I finally became engaged. Moments after these shots were taken Brian proposed. (In a very sweet way) I really debated keeping this to myself as many of you probably assumed we were already married. We have been together for many, many years (12 total) but for one reason or another, never officially wed. Not much is going to change, obviously:), but ultimately I felt I wanted my readers be a part of what is to come even if that meant surprising a few of you. Please wish us the best. This has been a very happy event for our family.

And no, the bunny ring wasn't my engagement band:) Although that might have been fitting since it's his nickname for me.
