I loved the idea of spats as a child but I'm even more intrigued to wear them as an adult. It looks almost like a leather insert in regular shoes. I'm almost tempted to make some of my own. Wouldn't that be a cool post?

Normally, spats go on the outside of the shoes, since the original point was to protect the shoes.

i just made some spats for my dad's bagpipers uniform...im not an expert seamstress but it was easier than I expected. I also used the thread banger tutorial and it helped me quite a bit. You should do a post! I love the idea of them being girly and cotton:) love the blog btw.

I made some for my little girl for the American Crafter contest on Naptime Crafter but they didn't turn out quite as nice as I would have liked. =(
I bet you could make some really pretty ones! With leather and lace... so cute!
