We had to put my mother's dog Obi to sleep this morning. Last night was pretty emotional when I told the kids. Lily took it pretty hard. Molly still didn't quite understand which was probably for the best. He did manage to live longer than all of his siblings, 12 years total.
He appeared to be in pretty bad shape at the end, partially blind and quite emaciated, although thankfully the veterinarian said he wasn't currently suffering but that he would experience organ failure soon. I'm glad to hear he wasn't in pain.

Goodbye Obi. You will be missed.

That's rough! My mother-in-law just had to put her 14-year-old dog down, too :( It's a hard adjustment even for a grown up.
I am sorry, no matter what some say, Pet do become part of our Family :)
That is so sad. :( He is adorable!
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. It's difficult as they really do become apart of your family. I still miss my family cat that we had to put down in February.
We are always sad when we lose a family member: (
Consolation is that I no longer suffer: (
I'm so sorry honey! I'm looking at my 12 year old dog with the atrophied head and I'm dreading the day we have to do the same. HUGS!
I'm really sorry. That is rough on a family. I saw our puppy border collie get hit by a car right in front of me in the tenth grade. The ironic thing is that I the dog was supposed to go to a from that day. I thought I was fine to go to school the next day, but in the tenth grade I ended up cracking up and balling my eyes out in front of everybody in Social Studies. I'm not even embarrassed because it felt so good to cry. This is a really hard thing.
How very sad for all of you. Obi must have been greatly loved and wonderfully loving to be so missed.
My thought are with you and your family. I lost my pit bull/basset hound mix to cancer in September. It's hardest on my oldest who is 5 and every now and then he'll say "I miss Brutus"...so do I.
MI know exactly what you're going through. I lost my 13 year old Aussie this past June. It was absolutely the worst day of my life and there isn't a day I don't cry for her (it's making me teary-eyed just typing this). I hope y'all are able to find some comfort knowing he's no longer suffering and running along with my beloved Sydney up in doggy heaven. (Ok, now I'm really crying.)
God bless little Obi.
Awww he was very cute. I'll bet he was lots of fun. x
What a cute little dog! Sorry to hear that he died.
I am so sorry Kathleen. My heart goes out to you and your family.
So Sorry for your loss. Went through this with my 14 year old cat a couple of weeks ago...
I am so sorry to hear that :/ It's always very hard to lose a pet, no matter what, they're family. But also in this cases it really is mercy to put them to sleep instead of letting them suffer. I hope he was very happy while he lived, and that you and your family feel better soon.
Oh so sad for your family xoxo, our little girl had to be put to sleep a couple of months ago, and she was only 2.5 years old... poor little doggy had a brain lesion that just moved too quickly. I love dogs, and yours was just so darling xoxo
