Really study it.
Great to understand how altering works.
Love to see this on a skirt pattern.

I have this book at home. It is such a big help to understanding fit of clothes. One of the best books I have found yet!

This is awesome! I've been needing something like this for a long time. What book is it from?

I have a book that does this for skirts (and everything else)! It was the best garage sale find ever. "Sewing Made Easy" (new revised edition)by Mary Lynch and Dorothy Sara. The original printing says 1950, but they did four editions throughout that decade. My copy is the 1960 edition - an entire decade of sewing wisdom and fashion documented in one place. It has always been one of my favorite treasures.

@Tasara
This particular page is from Clothing for Moderns by Mabel D. Erwin and Lila A. Kinchen. I have the Third Edition and I think it's actually a textbook. If you find it scoop it up! It has wonderful appendices for sewing notions and patterns. I also have the Sewing Made Easy book. That's a wonderful book as well!

We used something very similar in costuming when I was a theatre major in college. We had basically 4-5 bodice patterns, 4-5 sleeve patterns, 4-5 skirt patterns, and mixed-and-matched to get the style/time period we needed.
