Okay I know this might be a lofty idea but wouldn't this be even cooler if this could be raised and lowered with a pulley system and crank? Would be impressive to guests. What if you had a small apartment and had a pulley table? Even a small backyard with a tree. Here an instructable to build a pulley system to raise a train display. I think it could work the same.

This is a so great idea. I'm thinking in another, based in this one, but with a circular form.. maybe I'll try! Thanks for showing us this!
It looks pretty but I can't help thinking it might be a little too impractical... can you imagine how much the table would move back and forward? I mean, you would be eating soup and it would slop everywhere. Or, if you had to cut a tough piece of steak, the table would just fly off in the other direction. Eek!
@EdwinaMaybe you could also add legs that folded up when not in use? Though that might take away from the uniqueness of the hanging aspect. I wonder if one center leg would be enough to hold it steady. It could be folded up with something like a door bracket. Just spitballing.
