Oh how I love this. I wish I was the kind of cook who could have an excuse for something this impressive. Via How Sweet It is. I bet you could make something like this out of pallets. Here's a tutorial on how to make your own pallet garden. If you're going to have it in your kitchen I'd stain the pallet or paint it white, black or deep brown first. See an example at bottom. You could also install a grow light into the ceiling and aim it at the plant wall if you didn't have a wall that faced a window.

That's a great idea to add a coating of color on your shelf! Just remember, when growing plants for produce. DO NOT paint the inside or have a heavy duty plastic lining because your food can be poisoned very easily!!!
