Steam Train Skirt Pattern!

February 6, 2014

Here it is the pattern for the Steam Train skirt (scroll down)! It's a three tiered wool/fur circle skirt. Of course, I couldn't use real fur, so my skirt is just faux but I think the warm feel is still very present. I made the waist very fitted and dropped. I've seen this look in a lot of wedding dresses lately and it's very figure flattering when paired with a mid section belt.

The fitted portion of the skirt is made from a heavy wool. I also bought boning thinking that the weight of the skirt would pull the wool down but in the end it held its own without any boning assistance! To see more pics of the dress go here. And if you like this frock please vote for it over at Project Sewn!
This pattern was made to fit my frame. So here are my measurements. Adjust the fitted bodice portion according to your measurements. Waist 26", Hips 36", waist to feet 40".
I paired it with an oversized plain black sweater I bought at the thrift store. I then took in the sides and sleeves. I tucked it into the skirt and added a black belt to cinch the waist. Like I mentioned before the look is figure flattering as it accents the waist and the hips my making them look small in contrast to the full skirt.

Love the skirt. How many metres of fabric do you need for this skirt.
