I love Polaroids. Unfortunately, a lot of my dresses just don't fit the Polaroid bill. I like the frosty soft, pale and pink look. When I made this dress I knew I'd finally get my chance to do a Polaroid shoot.
Being pregnant I haven't had the chance to do much with my photos other than point and shoot. The cold weather and shorter days don't help either. At least these photos were a little different than my usual basement shoots.
The dress is maternity. This might be my last maternity frock. Perhaps I'll eek out one more. But I only have one more month to go. Exactly one month from now I'll be in the O.R.
We are having a planned c-section. Not by choice. Both of my two daughters were born via c-section and now there's no alternative. Can you believe I'm still sewing? I'll admit, it's getting a bit difficult.
I made the lovely headpiece with my friend Cheila a few months ago. Since then I haven't had a reason to wear it. When I remembered I had it languishing in my craft drawer I was nearly giddy thinking of how perfectly it went with this frock.
The dress is very soft and sweet which is why I named it milk and honey. I think this phrase is well worn but if I had my own clothing line I'd love to use that expression for my name.
I imagined wearing it to a New Year's Party or a surprise birthday celebration.
The flowers on the front, snake around the neck and hug the waist before swinging across the back.
You may not be able to see from the photos but the 2" wide trim crosses at the bust line and continue down past the hips.
The skirt is gathered at the middle of bust line and drapes down along the line of the lower trim. So rather than having a straight skirt line, it falls around your growing belly for a flattering maternity look.
I think some pearls might have gone well with this dress or even something lavender.
Some pearl earrings might have looked good as well. I'm not really a big earring wearer. Not because I don't like them but my daughter Molly is constantly getting into my jewelry tree and throwing them on the floor.
I've lost countless beauties which breaks my heart. Another thing that hurts....stepping on one in the middle of the night and having the stem go through your foot. Not so great.
This dress is made of a soft oatmeal colored knit material which you'll thank me for at the end of those 9 and a half months.
If you read my last post you know that I can't bear to wear pants anymore. Not even those full paneled things. Nothing is comfortable. Being this pregnant around the holidays is just a miserable thing. You have a lot of entertaining and looking presentable.
I chose to wear dresses. Not because I wanted to look formal but because wearing pants is now an exercise in tolerating physical discomfort. Everything feels tight.
I would actually really like to make one more maternity dress before the baby is born. Never have I had so many maternity photos. This new baby will have ample documentation of her time in the womb.
Poor Molly. I think she might have one photo of me sitting on an amusement park dinosaur with Lily.
The flowers on this dress were made from a tutorial I found years ago. They are the same kind of flowers I made for the the New Year's Eve Sweater and Skirt.
I looked everywhere for the tutorial. If I find it, I will try to post it to the blog later. I have to admit that it's a very tedious process but the finished look is lovely. Not to mention soft as a baby's bottom. Feels good against your cheek or neck.
I originally wanted to take these photos outside seeing as the world here on the east is now a blanket of snow. Unfortunately after my weekly doctor's visit it was already dark. Ugh. I hate daylight savings time.
I would say that this dress would fit a medium. However, I am pretty late in my pregnancy so it really depends on your stage. You can sort of judge from the photos.

wow, i would give this lovely piece of work to my sister. who's about to have her fourth c section!
Oh hang in there! I had a Feb. baby 4 years ago (and another one last July, oh, and may as well mention the August baby 6 years ago). Just remember, you'll forget how horrible it is right now! Good thing! The last month is the WORST! Good luck!
This is so beautiful!
oh, it's beautiful! count me in. and i'm linking to you, too.

Lovely frock.
I am sorry to hear that you are being given no option to labor after 2 previous c-sections. I also had two c-sections (which had no medical reason other than "failure to progress"), but opted to try one more time at home with my last one (with a very experienced midwife).
Here is my birth story, in case you are interested: http://attemptingtransparency.blogspot.com/2009/08/penelopes-birth-story.html
Lovely lovely lovely.
I just found out I'm having twins this July! I would love to have such a pretty dress! I'm guessing you're having a girl?! I saw one "she" droopped in this post. I've been patiently waiting for you to tell since you were hinting a few posts back....
Really Gorgeous dress! I'm about 6 months pregnant and wearing a dress is usually more comfortable for sure!
You look great, seriously. I just want to wish you luck in the last month, and I hope you have a smooth C and recovery. I had a C section 2 yrs ago and am now pregnant with twins, so I may be doing a repeat C next summer, too.
What a beautiful dress!
This dress is stunning! I'd looove to wear it this spring :)
Beautiful!

This is beautiful. Really, it is stunning. I am pregnant with my second (I have to have C sections too.) and I have NO maternity clothes. I borrowed clothes from friends for my first pregnancy and now we have moved! I would love something this wonderful to wear. You are a true talent!
I love it! So beautiful! I love the light color!
Chaya
This is beautiful! I haven't seen anything like it and would love to wear it when I'm feeling huge this next spring/summer...
What a beautiful dress! That would definitely help me feel more pretty at the later stages of pregnancy!
This dress would be perfect for me! I'm rounding that stage in pregnancy where there's nothing to wear to church and I still have 3 months to go!

This dress is beautiful!! The perfect dress to make you feel like a beautiful goddess when you're BIG and prego!!
this is my second comment!
Beautiful dress!
gorgeous dress! makes me almost wish i was preggo right now to enjoy wearing this lovely frock. however, getting up countless times in the night still with my 3 month old is birth control enough! ha ha!
i also noticed the little 'she' dropped into this post. did i miss the announcement somewhere? are you guys having another girl? we just had our 3rd daughter in september, my others are 5 (almost 6) and 3. very similar to your girls. all the best in this last month! i so enjoy your blog and your creativity!
I am absolutely in LOVE with this dress! You amaze me every time. :) I really wish I was a more experienced seamstress. So far, all I have tried are your skirt tutorials. I would love to win this dress! I have linked up as well.
http://themazanisfamily.blogspot.com
Beautiful. I would love to give this to a friend for her baby shower.
Oh my goodness I LOVE it! You should keep it and wear it every day for the next month. I totally couldn't comfortably wear pants in the last part of my pregnancy either- dresses are the way to go! Hope you get some rest in the next month. :)
good luck with everything--those polaroids/dress/YOU are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

Next year is the year to add a sibling for our little guy, and this dress would be a lovely addition to the otherwise dreaded maternity wardrobe! :)
What a pretty dress! I am just 7 months pregnant and I would love the sweetness and comfort of this! I would love to feel pretty in it, it's a gem!
www.thechongohana.blogspot.com
I'm 5 1/2 months along and totally getting to the all dresses and skirts all the time stage. I hate my pants! I love this dress!
WOW beautiful
Gorgeous dress!!! I'm nearing my end as well, and I've noticed the same trouble with my full paneled pants staying up, just like I had problems with my lower panel pants two months ago... I would *LOVE* a maternity dress (not one that still works with a belly) but can't justify getting one! This is beautiful!
It's really pretty. And, I love how you wore the head piece to the side w/o the ruffles. Great symmetry for the photograph. Congrats! Dina
My sister is having a planned C section also on the 8th of january its such an exciting time, goodluck with your last month of pregnancy hope it goes very smoothly :)
love the softness of this dress makes me very maternal all of a sudden ;)
Merry chritsmas xxx
Very nice! I love the colour. Finding something nice to wear when heavily pregnant is pretty tricky- especially when you get sick of everything you've been wearing over and over again!
This dress is soooo pretty. This will be perfect for spring and summer.
Nice, thanks to Megan Davies for sending this to me! I would love to wear this to several weddings coming up this year. I can't look at my Gap maternity dresses anymore :)
I have a family wedding coming up in late February and this would be perfect. I will be nearly 7 months pregnant and my 1 green maternity dress is horrible!!
lovely! wishing you happy holidays and an easy birth

Have a beautiful holiday!
What gorgeous pictures!! The dress looks so soft and comfy. Am about 5 months along right now but way bigger than I should be (I took the eating for two things too seriously ;-). This is my first, but I can already feel what you mean about wearing pants!!

What a great dress, you are so talented! Do you have any advice for those interested in trying to sew their own maternity clothes? I'm due in April, and this is my first. It's already becoming a bit uncomfortable to wear pants warm enough to make it through winter!
Such a beautiful dress! I'd love to own this lovely!
Love this dress. I am all linked up.
Oh my word... this must be one of the most beautiful mat. dresses I have ever seen! Your designs are gorgeous!
So beautiful!!
I'm 26 weeks right now so I'd love to have this dress to wear... I do love the flowers on the neckline!
Sarah
Yes! I love it and I want it.
This is absolutely adorable. I love the floral fringe and yes...knits are the greatest. I'm 25 weeks and am also loving dresses as of late.
Thank you for creating such a lovely piece for someone else to enjoy!
You look SOOOOO lovely. The dress came out amazing! I'm not pregnant so I couldn't wear the dress, but I just wanted to pass on a moment of encouragement. You're ALMOST there, in that home stretch. I think pregnancy is designed perfectly because you have to get to the point of wanting that baby OUT to endure the childbirth and first couple months. I have three, too, and it's hard work, but soooo lovely. I love all you do!
so ethereally beautiful! i want it for my lovely lovely sister :)
I love this dress! I would love to wear it for pregnancy photos!!
Ok, why wasn't there cute maternity clothes like this when I was pregnant? Seriously, this is the loveliest maternity dress. I love the neckline.

Looking at yet another amazing maternity dress I realize how horrible I looked my last pregnancy. I must do better this time, please pick me.
