Normal Clothes....almost.
January 28, 2010
Today I dropped Lily off at school. It was the first time in a while that I was able to wear normal clothes....well, almost. I put on my best supporting bra, tummy tucking undies, a pair of homemade maternity jeans and a jersey v-neck top. Of course, I still have a long way to go in order to get close to my original weight but I can at least see it in the distance.
So of course, I was on Modcloth today drooling over all the dresses I hope to wear one day. I should really be getting paid for talking about them so frequently. But they really do have a fabulous selection of dresses.
These were a few on my spring wish list. Hopefully in a couple months I can start dressing to impress again. I got to tell you, sweatpants and knit tops are so depressing. They make me not want to brush my hair and put on makeup. Look out spring here comes my waistline!

Your story reminds of something that happened to a friend of mine many years ago. It was right after her first pregnancy. She was sore and had put on like 40 lbs. Her cute clothes didn't fit and she was wearing more frumpy type clothes until she could lose the weight. Anyway, she was looking for work and there was a position available where I worked for a customer service rep (phones). So I talked to my boss (no a fashionista herself since she was obese at the time), and I got my friend a job interview. When my friend left my boss went over to my desk and told me that she was not going to hire my friend because she did not go dressed appropriately for the interview. Mind you, she was wearing loose fitting pants and a pretty shirt. I reminded my boss that my friend had just given birth and none of her nice clothes fit yet. Still, no go.
A couple of weeks later the owner of the company (my boss' father) asked me if I knew of anybody looking for work. I told him about my friend, and I also told him about the interview disaster. He said that he didn't care about her clothes, he only cared about her doing a good job. I got her the second interview and the man hired her. She stayed in that job for over 2 years, even after I left. I couldn't believe that the woman was unsympathetic and the man actually hired her!
oh i could RAVE about Modcloth too! I just purchased a few things recently at AMAZING sale prices and I love them! I'm about 4 months pregnant with #3 and can actually wear the dresses I bought right now - they both have cute elastic belts that hit just above my belly. (I'm sure they won't last for 5 more months though...)
But post-baby, I always wear lots of skirts w/elastic waistlines. I'm sure you could whip up some cute ones to wear with leggings!
You're right, ModCloth has soooo many cute dresses--thanks for picking through them to show us, because I get tired after 10 or 20 pages of adorable dresses (right click: Save Image As... repeat).
Congrats on the baby!
I had my daughter three weeks ago yesterday. I admit, I gained more weight than I should have. But, what made me feel better, was going to the gap (not my first jeans choice - but good enough) and buying a pair of jeans that fit. They were two sizes bigger than normal. But they made me feel human. They are a bit big now, and I can wear a couple of my other jeans, but they really helped bridge the gap. I still need a couple of tops that fit my chest and are easy to nurse with. I have lost more than 25 lbs and have another 20 to go. YIKES! Good thing bathing suit weather isn't here yet.
Those are some cute dresses!
love the beige one! Decided that since my baby is one now, that I should at least try to lose this weight. Four babies worth seems like a daunting task, but I'm started now!
The post-baby-body is at least temporary...and you have something precious to show for it! I too was looking at these dresses -(http://theopulentpoppy.blogspot.com -The Shirtwaist Dress Post) So cute for summer!
They have gorgeous dresses, I drool over them too. You should get them to pay you in dresses! That's be even better than just to get paid, wouldn't it?
It won't be long. I remember wondering if I'd ever feel myself again. Beautiful dresses!
those are really cute. i'm going to go window shop now :)
I love Modcloth as well! I wore one of their dresses for NYE and was pretty much a walking advertise ment for them since I was telling everyone where I got it. I recently got my sister addicted too. I really like the white and brown dress you posted here. Off to browse new arrivals...
hang in there and you'll be there soon... those dresses are super cute!!!
