On My Christmas List

December 20, 2010

Please Please PLEEEEAZE Santa, bring me one of these. I like it because it cuts fabric! Although I wish I could find something that would cut fabric that didn't require you buy dies....oh well, I guess it will give my family members more ideas for their future Christmas lists.

I could have really used one for Embellish Knit Month! Speaking of EKM stay tuned for Day 29 later today!

Do you know how much it is? I didn't see a price... it looks like a fun tool! Hope you get it!

Jenny,
I think it's $99 at michaels. But if you buy the sizzix big shot (which is the same thing) online you can get it for more around $70.

I have one of these, and it's difficult to cut fabric. Especially if it's any kind of fabric with weight, like felt is too thick to cut very well. Cotton works usually, but sometimes details are lost- like the eyes might not come out.

Plus the selection of dies that are strong enough to cut fabric aren't very big. Just food for thought.

If you are on a PC, I believe the gazelle cuts fabric

I was looking into this before I got my Silhouette but I'm on a Mac. It's a bit pricey but if you're really good, maybe Santa can bring it for you! LOL ;-)

Now that will do wonders and make things easier!

Would definitely be handy! The only problem is I have no idea where I would store something of this magnitude. I am SO limited as is. Maybe one day when I have a house with a little more storage.

Have you tried the Slice? I've used it for fabric and it worked really well. http://www.whyslice.com/

I found a similar one on craigslist for $20! It is made by the same company that makes the silhouette, it's called Epic six. It works with the sizzix dies (you just have to buy a thinner set of plates which they sell at michaels). I love it! It cuts through 7-9 layers of fabric at a time & 3 layers of felt!

I have the sizzix big shot and it also cuts leather, cork, and thin metal. I use it mostly to cut fabric, felt and leather and the only time I've had issues is with cheap/thin knits. Felt cuts like a breeze even when I cut 2-3 layers at a time and with fabric I cut easily up to 6 layers without issue.

If you get it at Joann's you can use the coupon. I got mine there after waiting until I had a 50% off coupon so I scored for under $50. Do the same with the dies.

May Santa grant your wish :)

I LOVE my sizzix! I use it exclusively for fabric. The Ellison (parent company) is in Orange County and they have warehouse sales every so often. The bigkicks go for about $30 there and dies that usually $20 are sold for FOUR dollars. Yes. Four. Let me know if you want me to care package you anything! They also have a lot of discount dies on their outlet sizzix site.
