No, I didn't sew a flower for my eyes:) Please don't be anger with me but I don't have a shoe sugar post today. I'm going to try and get caught up with some stuff I had been getting backed up with and spend some time with Molly.
But I did want to show you my new eye sugar.
Ever since I started to wear contacts I've longed to change my eye color. I tried the Acuvue colored soft lenses but they barely made a dent in my dark brown/almost black eyes. And in the daylight they were almost imperceptible. So I gave up on ever having green eyes. But recently I came across hand painted lenses. From what I could tell in photos they completely changed the color of the eye in a more natural way. But at the time they were just wayyy to expensive. Since then, they've come down in price, a lot down, and I finally decided to invest in a pair from FX Eyes.
And after many weeks of waiting I got them in the mail today. They are everything I had hoped. But don't get me wrong, I still love my brown eyes and wouldn't change them permanently even if I could. Sometimes it's just nice to change things up a bit. Sort of like a new sweater or dress, ya know?
I won't wear these all the time. Perhaps for special occasions and some photos. I ordered them with a smaller pupil but now I can see a little bit of the color in my vision. I wouldn't wear them driving but if you wanted to have a larger pupil to avoid that issue it's no problem. If I ever get another pair I might order a larger pupil so that I can wear them more often.
If you have dark brown eyes and have always wanted to change your color I recommend checking them out. They even have youtube videos for each lens so you can see what they really look like. They have an amazing assortment of natural looking colors. Mostly ones with different hues in the iris.
And if you'd like to see more of my finds check out:

what a beautiful color, but i am sure your brown eyes are just as pretty.
Wow, those look amazing. When I first clicked on the post, I couldn't even tell what you were talking about (since I don't know you had brown eyes). Definitely very natural.
Very natural looking!You look great!
You are gorgeous! I never would have known they were contacts.
ps. thought of your blog when I saw this fabric covered shoe tutorial:

I have very dark, nearly black eyes as well and tried colour contacts once. I found them really hard to see through and almost hit a curb. I decided to ditch them after that. I found they barely changed the colour of my eyes which didn't make them worth it. When I opened the post my first though was 'wow, what a beautiful eye colour' then I realized your eyes are normally brown!
So long eyelashes!

My hubby has a false eye (childhood accident) and I'm always asking him to change it up a bit. A peace sign, a smiley face, a flag... lol. He doesn't think so!
gorgeous! you look totally different. I love the color though. They've come a long way from looking "fake". Those look totally natural on you. Beatiful.
Thanks everyone for the lovely compliments.
Margherita,
Yeah, they're faux too. I have very thin, stubby, downward growing asian lashes. They are just useless. But for the faux ones I use the individual kind. I think they look more realistic. And I often get compliments when I wear them. For me, they're a cinch to put on. Definitely recommend getting some at Sally's. They have the best selection.
Dana,
Thank you. They looked totally weird when I first put them in but they're growing on me:)
So pretty! I'm jealous, I couldn't wear colour lenses even if I wanted to, y pupils are always super dilated.
So pretty! Love that shirt (dress?) too!
Hi there.
I love your blog, and I am always amazed by your creativity and talent. Although I have never commented before, I felt strongly that I needed to do so today.
I am an eye surgeon, and I wanted to be sure that you had your contacts fitted by either an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Buying contact lenses off the internet can be dangerous. If contact lenses are not properly fitted, they could lead to infection and potentially permanent loss of vision or loss of the eye.
Hopefully, you just left that part out of the post..... Because we would all be so sad if a great talent like you could not see and then could not continue your passion of creating all these fabulous beauties.
Wishing you only the best.

That is amazing! They are pricey though... wow!
I've just discovered your blog. It is really amazing! It's very organized which i like the most. The photos are great, too. You can be sure that i'll keep on visiting your blog everyday! lol
Kisses.
Anonymous,
Thank you so much for being concerned for me. Yes, I did get them fitted by a optometrist. I go every year to get a new fitting/prescription.
And you don't have to be anonymous. It wasn't a bad thing to ask:)
Thanks again for your concern and appreciating the blog!

They look great! I totally get what you mean I bought purple contacts once just to see what they would look like and I wore them every once in a while but I still love my natural eye color.
Are you part Asian? I never would have guessed! I love that color on you; you should get some more colors!
They are just beautiful! I went and looked for myself, and they seem a bit pricey for a not-very-long-lasting-accessory. Do you know how many pairs of shoes you can get for $450? :) Don't pay any attention to me---if you always wanted green eyes, then you should have green eyes. Does your husband feel like he's talking with another woman?
Jeanie,
I'm going to try and make them last for years. I'm going to use enymze solution to clean them which I've done in the past when I haven't had enough money to buy new disposable lenses. But also, I'm not wearing them everyday only on special occasions so I think that will make them last a lot longer too.
But moreover, I too, get into the mindset of thinking about how much I could have gotten instead of the one expensive thing I bought BUT here's how I'm starting to look at things....
From going to thrift stores every week, I've brought so many clothes and shoes and some (honestly) junk into our home. So spending a lot of money on one thing that I've wanted for years and that isn't going to junk up our house is probably a wiser decision.
And actually, I haven't even worn them in front of Brian yet! Like I said, I'm saving them for a few select occasions. They aren't terribly comfortable to wear. And I think that's partly my fault because I ordered the pupil on the small side. If I ever buy a new pair I'll get a much larger pupil.
Thanks guys for all your feedback! I've really enjoyed reading the comments!
I would not have guessed these were contacts. My eyes are hazel/green/gold by nature and have similar color variation. I have a dark ring around the outside edge of my iris too. I have more gold in the middle, near my pupil, part of my iris. I consider myself a "girl with kaleidoscope eyes."
lovely! Suits you perfectly!
These contacts are gorgeous on you. They are from fxeyes right? I was just wondering, what is the name of these contacts because I want to buy them. Also did you have them toned down to a darker color or do they look that way without any alterations?
I'm gonna piggyback off of what the ophthalmologist said and say good job on getting them fitted :) Haha. I'm another random follower of your blog (LOVE LOVE LOVE your creativity and unique ideas) and I work at an eye doctor's office but another one you can try for dark brown eyes are the Freshlook color blends (they have a gemstone green that's pretty bright) but those look beautiful :) Glad you found a great way to mix it up!
Hello what a nice surprise what i find on the web,i want to buy a pair of fx eyes since i know about them 3years ago,but i didn't know how i want my eyes look like til now..i want my eyes look like amy lee's(evanescence)eyes so i am undecided i have finally 3 colors to decide heaven, stella, jazmine, brooke, but the last one is maybe toooooo bright looks like a zombie eyes not her eyes..anyway i saw your picture and i have to ask do you have more pictures?what color did you bought?your contacts look exactly the way i want..and what pupil size you ask for your contacts?please answer or e-mail me to sweet.lust@live.fr coz i wanna buy them soon
@Kathleen Frances
those are just simply beautiful! What color are they? i just got mine yesterday, Heaven, but im not all that happy with them due to the fact that they are super duper, unnaturally bright, so i'd like to know what color are urs so maybe in the future i can consider them.
@UnknownMine were Jazmine but they look really bright too compared to my dark brown eyes. Maybe if the pupil size isn't as small the color won't pop so much. But I wish I would have gotten a larger pupil size so I might be biased;)
@Kathleen Frances
I got the large pupil size, the 5 or 15 (not sure what size, I know it has a 5 lol) and that made me think that the color looks too bright because of that, but now that u mentioned that the color is too bright due to possibly the small pupil size, it made me a bit calmer lol. but im in love with urs, mine just dont match me at all. I now know that bluish contacts are not a go for me. I sent mine back asking them to tone them done and possibly rule out the blue, ugh i hope that works! Thank u so much for sharing :)
OMG. I am SO glad I found this blog post! Thank you! I too have wanted some FX Eyes for years & am finally mustering up enough gumption to say 'gosh darn it, I'm worth it.' It's been so hard choosing the right color (I have trouble making decisions anyway, but now this is a $500 decision -eeeeee!)
But your color - that's it. Hands down. It's gorgeous & looks gorgeous on you. I'm getting the Jazmine's.
My question is, did you get these toned down at all & what was the pupil hole size you ordered?
I know you're busy - Thanks so much for your reply!
@Bekkah CliffordI'm sorry I'm just catching up on my comment. I realize it's been months ince you left this comment but if you haven't purchased them yet I would definitely recommend to get the right pupil size. I bought mine with the smallest pupil and it has made them difficult to wear. I wish I would have gotten a much larger pupil. In fact if I had to choose I'd get the largest pupil size. It does take away from the colored part but I think you'll find that you wear them more often that way.
Good luck! Hope they turn out well!
Thank you so much for your reply! Did you get yours toned down at all - if so what level did you order?
