Everything else she is doing on her own. For instance, instead of buying fresh flowers she is making all her floral arrangements out of paper, ribbon and fabric. The bridesmaids will be holding these down the isle. You can't see in the photo but the bottom has a stem like any other floral bouquet. It kind of looks like a giant flower.
I think a really interesting idea would be to dye the bottom half of the ribbon before you make the flower for a ombre effect. White to yellow to green to plum?

Brilliant. $3. Totally brilliant.
Simple. Elegant. Beautiful.
That's a women starting if off right!
How great! I did my wedding about two years ago for under $2500, but I had a lot of free help. This is a super cute idea. :)
brilliant!!!!I like it for mine!!!!!:-)
Beautiful! I'd love for you to submit this to the M&T Spotlight at http://www.makeandtakes.com/spotlight
Beautiful
Laurel,
Absolutely! Please do!
Very pretty...what a wonderful idea...AND she and the bridesmaids can keep them after the wedding.
Wow...go, Abi! How fun will it be to see pix of the Big Day, with all these creative ideas woven throughout?
brilliant! Quite the cost efficient alternative to flowers!
Wow, that is unique and beautiful.
One thing in the tutorial is unclear, and it might make a big difference to someone attempting this.
She says it takes 3 feet of ribbon, but could it be 3 yards?
These are so great! I'm featuring this tutorial over on my wedding planning blog DeeLovelyDay.blogspot.com today. Thanks for sharing!
I really admire people who choose to be conservative with spending on their wedding. I recently got married and tried to keep the cost as low as possible. It was far more difficult than expected. I also realized on the day of the wedding there is SO much going on you don't really get to enjoy all the little and often expensive choices you made.
I have never seen such a wonderful idea! It looks very cute! Great imagination!
these posts are perfect. thank you. I am planning a wedding in a hurry and on the cheap :)
I will fix the tutorial today. I did use 3 yards of ribbon not 3 feet. Sorry about that guys.
that is soo cool! I wish I had seen that in time for my wedding!
This is really lovely! Awesome job.
One thing I wanted to share - I have had hot glued craft projects collapse under the slightest strain - specifically fabric flowers glued to cardboard backing! That would just be tragic during the ceremony. I'd recommend shoring up the hot glued areas with some jewelry glue like Dazzle-Tac. I've used it on fabric before, and it holds REALLY well. It takes a while to dry, so maybe after the bouquet is made, you could add some stronger glue along the edges or stress points of the hot glue.
Best wishes to you and your hubby-to-be, Abi!
Great tip Lori! I will definitely have to check that out. There is no way that my nerves could handle a last minute bouquet emergency.
Gorgeous...I might make one for myself.
This is simply lovely!! I want to do this for my wedding now! (july 2nd) Do you have any ideas for centerpieces that would be totally cute and inexpensive too?!
I am also going to make my own centerpieces I should hopefully be getting up a post in that regard later in the month. A good place to start is to really think about what you want the overall "look" of your wedding to be. From there I let anything that felt like that "look" inspire me. In my case budget is also a huge concern so anytime I am inspired I try to examine how I can make something comparable myself.
What a beautiful idea! Not to mention more practical and affordable than fresh flowers.
that's just about the COOLEST idea i've EVER seen. i may be stealing that when i walk down the aisle.
