We're finally back from our three day weekender in the Catskills. I actually DIDN'T take that many photos. I think it was all the needing my hands to climb onto rocks. I didn't even take a picture of our tent (which was AWESOME). It said it could fit up to 10 people and at night I felt like we were sleeping in a cave. All the other campers surely had tent envy;)
I actually DID climb the Kaaterskill Falls but only half our party was able to climb to the top and honestly, it was probably foolish of me to try. I have to admit the second tier of the falls is Amazing (with a capital A). It looked like I had stepped through a space/time wormhole onto a back trail in Maui. Truly, amazing. However, due to last year's hurricane the path to the falls is dangerously eroded. It was sort of dangerously erroded before but now it's really a risk to get there and I feel bad that I even tried. In the past few years, it is said that one person dies per year getting to the falls and after last year's hurricane I don't think that number will be decreasing. I think the park service should either block off the old trail or build something to make the second tier accessible. Preferably the latter because it would be a shame for future hikers to miss out.
I took the panoramic photos with my plain old iphone 4 camera. However, I took multiple shots and pieced them together in Photoshop for the panoramic view. It's SOO incredibly simple. Just go to File>Automate>Photomerge. Choose your photos, click on 'auto', then click ok and wait for the images to process. Beyond simple and in the end, since you combined so many photos, you get high resolution shots. I could have never gotten the shot at top without combining four photos of the falls.
We even saw a bear!
We also climbed a 3,000 ft mountain (boy am I tired) and the top was gorgeous. Those pics and videos are on Brian's camera:( and he's at work now. Boooo. But I did get him to text me one.
This is me, after our 5 mile roundtrip hike to the top. I feel like I'm about to pass out.
And did I mention Sunday was my birthday? Justin Beiber wished me a happy 34th. I wonder how many Beiber cards are given ironically vs. sincerely.
We're talking about maybe going up in the winter and renting a cabin for skiing. Now, that WOULD be fun.
But I'm glad to be home. Seeing the babies after three days was wonderful. I just wanted to eat Henri all up. He beamed and cooed. Oh love him so.
